Piano and Clarinet Tutor

An enthusiastic and friendly tutor, I have been teaching piano, clarinet and music theory for the past fifteen years. I have worked with students of all ages and abilities, from beginner to advanced levels, in schools (primary and secondary), community centres and specialist music colleges.

I am a dedicated, understanding and encouraging teacher, and am committed to helping each student reach their full potential. Depending on each student's level and goals, I tailor each course to suit their individual needs. I prepare students for music exams (usually ABRSM), and always endeavour to be present at exams to offer support and encouragement.

I studied pedagogy (the art of teaching) at both the Cork School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music and am fully qualified with a Masters Degree in piano, a Postgraduate Diploma in piano accompaniment, a BMus Degree and an LRAM Diploma in teaching. I appreciate the importance of lesson planning and provide regular student reports, enabling my students to monitor their progress and acknowledge their achievements.

I am based in St Albans (south side), and teach from home and at local schools.

My rates are as follows:

30 minute lesson - £25
45 minute lesson - £35
60 minute lesson - £45

I offer a free 20 minute trial lesson if desired.
However, please note that my schedule is currently very full and I am not taking on any new students this term. Some slots may become available next term, so please do let me know if you would like to add your name to my waiting list.

Keyboard Hire

If you are interested in trying out the piano but not sure if you want to make a commitment yet, or are temporarily without a piano, I can provide short-term keyboard hire. Click here for details.
